Summary |
In this project we learned how to make different types of bread from around the world. In humanities we learned about when humans first started making bread and the different types of bread served around the world. In physics we made machines to help the bread making process. During this build we learned about the physics of torque, pressure and force. In math we made graphs to show the nutritional change from wheat seed to bread. We also made cutting boards using geometric constructions. We made these constructions with tools like a compass and straightedge just like Euclid did!

I think the cocoa grinder was an overall success even though I had more problems with this project then any other. My groups motivation for making the cocoa grinder was to help reduce the number of people needed to make cocoa powder. This was because the way places like the Ivory Coast and other Western African countries where their main exports are cocoa, produce cocoa, is by using child labor and slavery. Our machine would reduce the number of slaves and children used to produce cocoa. During this project we had some huge problems which we had to bounce back from; We found a huge design flaw late into the project. Luckily I built my team very strongly and we were prepared for something like this to happen. Something that we were not prepared for was our bike getting stolen. This was a huge problem because it got stolen a day before we were supposed to be finished with it. Luckily we had created an user manual and there was another group that was making a similar machine. If you would like to see my groups user manual click here.
